Archaeology Open Day - Saturday 6th September

The BACAS Open Day is on Saturday 6th September 10-4pm with activities for all the family; see the results of the sumemr dig, tours of the villa site and the ‘Time Team’ Roman garden, along with hands-on activities such as geophysics and pot-washing. For children there will be an archaeological trail with our Educational Officer and ‘spoil heap challenge’ for those that just want to dig. As usual there will be a selection of refreshments and an exhibition at the barn.

Please tell your friends, family and work colleagues and come along and support the Society. If anyone would like to help out on the day, please contact Ceri Lambdin on 01225 761026.

About the society
The Bath and Camerton Archaeological Society (BACAS) was formed in 1949, and has been involved in some major excavations during the past fifty years.

Our next events are shown above, and on our events page!

This website has been produced to give Society members, and other people interested in our activities, information on our current excavation at the Blacklands Romano-British site near Frome in Somerset, our annual lecture programme and our summer excursions to local sites of archaeological interest.

You can find a list of BACAS events, including excursions, lectures and open days from the events page. You can even sample a 'dig' from the comfort of your chair, with our interactive dig! Also, you can now view a report from our geophysical surveys at Foula, Shetland.

Will we have good luck with the weather for our training dig this year? Check the weather forecast at the BBC website.

BACAS welcomes members' initiatives and student projects and in order to facilitate them we have produced a short form so that geophysics equipment and help can be requested formally. You will find this form on the 'What is Geophysics' page.
