Heritage Lottery Fund supports Bath and Camerton Archaeological Society's educational project The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded a grant of £49,800 to the Bath and Camerton Archaeological Society's 'Archaeology for All at Upper Row Farm Project'. The grant will enable the Bath and Camerton Archaeological Society to recruit and fund an Educational Officer for three years, who will provide access to archaeology for local groups, visit schools, colleges and groups to educate them on local heritage and the historic environment. The Officer will also provide hands-on training, publish reports and ensure that a wide range of people in Bath and North East Somerset and surrounding counties have an opportunity to understand their local heritage. Commenting on the award Bob Whitaker, Chairman of the Bath and Camerton Archaeological Society, said; "We are delighted that the Heritage Lottery Fund has enabled us to provide this service and communicate our local heritage more widely than we were previously able to." Nerys Watts, Heritage Lottery Fund Manager in the South West comments; "It is so important to get community groups and young people interested and involved in their local heritage, so that it is preserved and passed on to future generations. This award will let a wide variety of people across the county explore hundreds of years of history on their doorstep, and learn new skills along the way."
