Time Team dig at Blacklands Monday May 22nd - Thursday 25th

Time Team came to make a programme on the excavation at Blacklands, between May 22nd and 25th. They are intending to explore the connection between the early Roman occupation and the previous Iron Age settlement.

Read the articles from the Bath Chronicle from before the dig, after the dig, and the article from the Western Daily Press!

The mayhem has now finished and the producers have gone away to make the program that will appear next year. The weather was not particularly kind to us and the site was turned into a sea of mud by the Friday, but the results of the excavation and new geophysics will make a good programme.

We don't want to give too much away, so here are just a couple of tasters!

And to finish, in the words of Tony Robinson
"It has been great and it is a spectacular site. From my point of view, what is so exciting is that it's about that extraordinary time when the new Roman invaders came in. We've found evidence of the life and livelihoods of the people who lived at that time"

Scheduled to be aired on Channel 4 on January 21st at 5:45pm.
